FAQs

1. What is Craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle light touch therapy. In the beginning it can be hard to determine if anything is happening at all. We are not practiced at noticing subtle actions or feelings in the body and as a result you may not feel more than hands on. Good way to recognize change is happening with the work is to notice if you are taking big sighs or breaths, notice if you feel a lot of heat starting to build up where I am working, or maybe you notice a lot of stomach gurgles. These are all signs of tissue release and shifting in the body. Sometimes people feel really relaxed and even sleepy after a session. This isn’t always the case. I have had people report feeling really energized afterwards.

One of the exciting things about craniosacral therapy is how it helps you learn how to connect, listen and be come in tune with your own body. Rather than waiting for the loud emergency signals of pain and dysfunction to realize your body has a voice you can start to recognize the how things are affecting you much sooner.

2. What do I wear for a session with Wilde Heart PT

If you are coming to address a specific pain- wearing clothes that allows visibility or access to that area is most helpful. Being able to see and touch makes a difference. For a craniosacral therapy session soft comfortable clothes are recommended. There is a private bathroom for changing clothes if necessary.

That being said- come as you are and we can make it work the best we can with what you’ve got on.

3. How many sessions do I need?

This is probably the hardest question to answer. It’s up to you- is the best answer I have. It is your goals and how you want to feel that matters. And no- I am not going to facilitate healing of your concern in one 60 to 90 minutes session. If you want to engage in the healing process please realize it is a process and a joint effort not something I “do” to you. There are generalities that help everyone, but every body is different and the path to dysfunction is different for everyone. This means the path out of dysfunction also needs to be individualized. As much as I wish I knew the exact path for each person as soon as we meet, usually it is a work in progress.

If you are seeking straight craniosacral therapy I recommend at least 3 sessions to be able to feel the affects. The changes and releases are obvious and immediate to some but not everyone. In fact the more compressed someones system is, the longer it can take to make a difference. Think of it as a really tight and stuck jar lid. Sometimes it takes a few tries before things start to move.

Start with one session and see what you think and we can work together to find what works for you.

4. Do you take insurance?

No, unfortunately, the logistics of taking insurance as a form of payment does not work for me and actually would prevent me from working. I do not like having to determine my treatments by my ability to justify and comply with what insurance dictates. In addition I do not have the extra hours to spend completing the complex paperwork nor do I work enough hours in the week to have a budget to hire the work out. But I do take HSA and FSA cards.
